UCLA Invents featured Fibron Technologies, and founder Prof. Richard Kaner in an article in their 2009 publication. In the article Prof. Kaner explains one of the key innovation of Fibron Technologies. "Conducting polymers don't dissolve, and they don't melt, but we found that if you make nano forms of these polymers, they will disperse in water. And once you have water-based conducting polymers, you can spray coat them, spin coat them, and use them like paint." These issues have prevented the industry from exploiting conducting polymers in applications where their light-weight, flexibility and low-cost are particularly advantageous.
